Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Quantum has an aggressive plan to build a1000+ qubit system by 2023. Reaching this goal will require innovation in basic quantum physics, chip fabrication, as well as classic systems control. IBM Research teams throughout the world are performing thousands of experiments and analyzing large datasets in order to advance the state of the art. Supporting this effort is a data engineering and science team whose mission is to provide a data platform to facilitate the capture, management and analysis of a diverse data related to quantum design, wafer and post-wafer fabrication, device tuning parameters, and device performance.
We have openings within our data engineering team. The successful candidate will be participating in the architecture, design and implementation of a cloud information system that will help usher in the age of quantum computing.
Define and develop multi and hybrid cloud data architectures, including remote data capture and processing pipelines
Ensure solutions are designed and developed using a scalable, highly resilient cloud native architecture
Deliver well-documented and well-tested code, and participate in peer code reviews
Work with leadership to define delivery schedules of key features through an agile framework
Assist in the support and operation of the platforms you help build
Manage the Dev-ops life cycles
Communicate with other teams and supervise delegated development projects and micro-services integration
This position is located in the Yorktown Heights, NY area.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Data architecture-related experience including data modeling, data strategy, data visualization
5 or more years of hands-on experience with Google, AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud or similar cloud platform
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or other container technologies
Proficiency in the following languages: Python, bash, Java
Exposure to Agile and test-driven development as well as code/project management tools like GIT, Travis CI, Trello/ZenHub and etc. LS
