IBM Strategy and Licensing Principal Consultant - Promontory in Washington, District Of Columbia

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and enhancement of' banking and financial services strategies and related risk and compliance programs for clients that are starting new banks, making transformative acquisitions, launching new business initiatives, and entering new markets

  • Interact comfortably with client management and Promontory leadership

  • Manage junior staff, including Analysts and Associates, assigned to projects

  • Help lead and execute project workstreams on strategy and licensing engagements, to ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations, while leveraging senior subject matter expertise

  • Help clients develop and implement persuasive strategies, plans, and regulatory submissions that satisfy key business goals and constraints within a comprehensive framework of regulatory requirements and expectations

  • Assess and enhance banking and financial services compliance and risk management programs, including frameworks, policies, procedures, methodologies, and technologies

  • Analyze and synthesize regulatory requirements and industry best practices

  • Review and analyze client written materials, such as business plans, policies, procedures, and governance artifacts

  • Design and develop client deliverables and present findings and recommendations to clients

  • Contribute substantively to business development activities, including assisting with drafting thought leadership, marketing materials, proposals, etc.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 5+ years experience in banking or financial services strategy or regulation at a regulatory agency, consulting/accounting/law firm, financial institution, or investment bank

  • Demonstrated familiarity with at least one major domain of financial services compliance or risk management

  • Experience with creative problem solving, persuading others, and affecting change

  • Experience providing guidance/direction to junior resources on project activities and deliverables

  • Track record of working in an unstructured environment and helping leaders identify and develop innovative, practical solutions to address client needs

  • Experience analyzing business processes and risk and control programs, assessing gaps, and developing recommendations to strengthen controls and risk mitigation

  • Experience driving and executing day-to-day aspects of project activities, including project and resource plans, budgeting and invoicing, execution methodologies, deliverables, and presentations

  • Superior analytical, writing, and editing skills with the ability to construct well-founded, clear and concise analyses and recommendations

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, Promontory leaders, and team members

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with banking compliance, consumer financial services compliance, credit risk management, commercial or retail lending, and/or bank financial analysis/pro forma financial modeling

  • Master's Degree and/or Professional Degree (JD)
