IBM Managing Consultant, Enterprise Strategy in Washington, District Of Columbia

Introduction

As a Strategy Consultant at IBM, you will help reinvent businesses and industries by developing and utilizing specialized knowledge of industry-specific and cross-industry competitive strategies. You'll manage complex components of an engagement, working closely with clients and their customers to understand their pain points. Your strategic recommendations will drive change in a digitally-enabled era and give you the opportunity to collaborate with highly talented IBMers. Are you ready?

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking talented and highly motivated Strategy Consultants to join our fast-growing Enterprise Strategy practice within IBM Services.

You will be part of a creative team of strategy consultants that help CEOs and the broader C-suite rethink their businesses and develop strategies that drive growth. You will help senior executives determine where to compete, how to differentiate, and how to innovate business models by taking advantage of digital and new technologies. A successful candidate will have experience consulting to large enterprises in one or more of the following areas: Technology Strategy, Data Strategy or Agile/DevOps.

You will ask bold questions, use analytics to find unique opportunities and help our clients think differently. You will develop strategies that are supported by robust business cases to ensure benefits are realized. You will design strategies through a digital lens and bring to bear the vast range of capabilities within IBM to help our clients succeed.

As a Managing Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team of talented consultants.

  • Supporting business development activities such as proposal development.

  • Contributing to the growth and eminence of the practice by supporting thought leadership and practice development activities

  • Being part of a team that helps our clients build a new vision for their company.

  • Helping our clients explore disruptive strategies that create business value.

  • Promoting IBM's unique value proposition in the market.

Preferred locations include: New York Metro, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, Washington DC Metro, Austin and Boston.Preferred Locations are New York, Chicago and San FranciscoKey Roles and Responsibilities include:Assist in developing practice strategy to position IBM as a enterprise transformation partner with target client companies

  • Assess market and competitive landscape of clients to understand client priorities and identify opportunities for IBM to add value

  • Understand IBM digital transformation offerings and develop thought capital to continuously evolve and enhance the value proposition

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with c-suite executives in client organizations

  • Lead pre-sales activities, assessments and the development of solutions

  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams to scope, solution, propose, close and deliver complex projects

  • Mentor, coach and develop staff

Core Skills & Insights Expert in market/competitive analysis, business strategy formulation and business case development

  • Strong quantitative skills in financial and assessment of monetization models

  • Strong verbal and written executive communication skills

  • Excellent insight and practical knowledge of digital products and service and the overall digital ecosystem

  • Ability to foster relationships and create demand within existing and new accounts

  • Lead successful delivery of consulting engagements

  • Ability to manage multiple, complex sales and delivery engagements simultaneously, oversee large program teams and collaborate cross-functionally

  • Ability to estimate complex program/projects - from a solution, resource needs, and budget perspective

  • Effective communicator with ability to motivate teams (both internal and external) and garner immediate respect and credibility

  • Can easily assimilate into the corporate culture and become an involved member of a high performing team

  • Ability to negotiate, develop winning proposals and track record of consistently exceed aggressive goal

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8 years in selling and delivery of complex consulting projects for a Tier 1 consultancy or digital agency in the Strategy, Digital or Analytics practices

  • Minimum 8 years in designing and helping clients implement large scale transformation of business strategies, organization delivery model, and business processes in business functions key to the CE industry.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 6 years of general consulting (or other equivalent business experience)

  • 2 years working for a strategy consulting firm developing business strategies for clients and leading strategy engagements or equivalent experience (Tech Strategy, Capability Modeling, Enterprise Architects who focus on business architecture)

  • Telecom and Network Industry Experience

  • Experience leading teams and working at the intersection of strategy and technology

  • 2 years involvement in at least one aspect of a digital transformation (e.g., business modeling, digital marketing, digital growth strategies, etc.)

  • 1 years of experience developing proposals and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

  • 3 years of industry experience in at least one industry

  • Earned a Masters in Business Administration (strongly preferred) and/or another Masters or Advanced degree in business or technology

  • Willingness to travel (domestically and globally) up to 4 days a week

  • Fluent in English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 2 years of experience incorporating design thinking and creative approaches to problem solving and strategy formulation

  • Telecom BSS
