The IMS DevOps team seeks outstanding full stack development talent to:
Support new projects redefining our clients' DevOps experience while accelerating our internal transformation into an agile, optimized, fast-moving development organization.
We are building fast-moving teams to work with industry leaders in developing ways to better build and deploy mixed-language z/OS applications into an automated pipeline.
We are also designing improved methods to provision and manage systems using modern, RESTful APIs in conjunction with compelling, rich, and interactive interfaces.
Job Duties: As an IBM Information Management System DevOps Software Engineer, you will use the latest tools and technologies available to deliver state-of-the-art software solutions for the Information Management Systems product. You will be responsible for ensuring that IMS releases and deployments are done efficiently to help organizations improve their business outcomes in the global marketplace. This role executes the tasks required to automate and release the Information Management Systems product to ensure it is done efficiently and meets the business needs. This role will enhance and support current development and testing environments used by IMS development squads. Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work as software engineers through all phases of the software development lifecycle. A foundational understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies such as the Agile Software Development Lifecycle, with a high degree of adaptability, drive, and willingness to accept new challenges is a must.
Candidates will also demonstrate fundamental knowledge in the following:
Core Java skills
Relational database management
RESTful API development
Source code management and build tooling
Experience or enthusiasm to learn mainframe-level tooling and languages
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Minimum 2 years of Java experience
2+ years of full stack software development experience
2+ years of relational database experience (e.g. Db2, MySQL, MS SQL, etc)
Experience using, maintaining, and developing RESTful APIs
Experience or enthusiasm to learn IBM z/OS mainframe-level tooling and languages (REXX, JCL, MVS, etc)
Experience using source code management and build tools (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, etc)
Be comfortable working with and maintaining Enterprise Linux servers (RedHat, Ubuntu, zLinux).
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a requirement.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
5+ years of enterprise-level Java, RDBMS, and RESTful API development experience
Experience with modern DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins, Maven, etc)
Ability to work in the San Jose, CA area is a big plus.
Experience with z/OS, MVS, REXX, and/or JCL are a big plus.
Experience with z/OS subsystems (e.g. CICS, IMS, Db2)
