As an IBM Software Engineer, you will be expected to deliver state-of-the-art software for modern enterprise solutions using the latest tools and technologies such as Ansible, Kubernetes, containers, Jenkins, etc. You will be responsible for ensuring that software components are expertly designed, tested, debugged, verified, and ready for integration into IBM's world-class products, helping organizations improve their business outcomes in the global marketplace.

Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work as software engineers through all phases of the development lifecycle. A foundational understanding of software development principles and testing methodologies such as the Agile lifecycle, along with a high degree of adaptability, drive, and willingness to accept new challenges, is a must.

As a core member of the team, you will be expected to work autonomously and deliver on project phases on time and on budget. We will help you achieve your goals by continuous professional development and regular career progression sessions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 2 years of experience with:

  • Software development/engineering in a professional environment

  • Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Operators, OpenShift etc.)

  • Ansible

  • Agile development practices

  • Familiar with:

  • Java

  • Python

  • Shell scripting

  • DevOps concepts

  • Git source control management

  • Database concepts

  • RESTful programming concepts

  • Values and seeks best practices

  • Thrives in team-driven environments and open to constructive criticism

  • Ability to communicate detailed technical concepts in a clear and concise manner

  • Strong team player who can collaborate and actively participate in technical discussions

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 4 years of experience with:

  • Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Operators, OpenShift etc.)

  • 1 or more years of experience with:

  • Enterprise development (creating scalable and highly-available products)

  • IBM z/OS

  • Cloud Application development

  • The automation and optimization of build and development processes, using tools like Jenkins, Maven, Ant, Gradle, Chef, and/or UrbanCode Deploy
