IBM Communications Leader, Analyst Relations in San Jose, California

Your Role and Responsibilities

Based: North Castle, NY; Cambridge, MA; Austin, TX; RTP, NC

IBM Analyst Relations (AR) is at the nexus of IBM technology and business strategies. Our team plays a critical, cross-functional role working with experts at many different levels of the organization across offering management, marketing and communications. We build strong relationships with industry analysts and influencers to gain insight to inform IBM’s strategy, build exposure for IBM’s offerings, and position IBM to solve client’s most critical needs.

The AR Communications Lead will transform AR Communications both internally and externally to support and accelerate AR's value and ensure our function and stakeholders understand, support, and are passionate about our strategy. The candidate will advance the AR communications mission by building on the existing strategic communications management system and developing a structured process focused on establishing and elevating the AR brand with key executive stakeholders. The candidate will oversee all AR communications and content creation and define the team's approach to executive reporting.

The target candidates will have:

  • Excellent content creation writing, editing, and organizational skills

  • Great communication skills, more importantly you know when to listen and when to lead

  • The ability to partner with your AR teammates in Comms, Marketing, and OM to convey AR-driven outcomes

  • Expert project and program management skills, you keep our team organized, providing clarity on responsibilities, timelines, and intended outcomes

  • Well-versed in social media and other digital marketing tools, metrics driven

  • Be able to spot the hidden-gems, polish them, and extract maximum value

  • Strong attention to detail, you chase tasks until completion and always follow-up

  • Naturally proactive, you know the needs of the team and jump-in before anyone needs to ask

  • Relentless hustle for building and protecting the perception of IBM Analyst Relations

  • A desire to grow in the Analyst Relations profession and learn from the industry’s best talent

  • An independent self-starter, who can deal with change and ambiguity, an agile thinker who prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively

  • Experience working with Gartner and other top industry analyst firms, independent analysts or media

  • Desire to build effective and efficient communication processes

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, results focused culture, and ever-evolving role

  • Experience with Adobe suite of products a plus

  • Experience working with content management systems or ability and desire to learn required platforms

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic liaison across IBM teams, including PR, Internal Communications, Marketing, Offering Management, MD&I, Sales, Finance - - ability to interact with C-level community

  • Editor in Chief of internal AR site

  • Develop and manage sales enablement resources that arm sellers with analyst points of view, assets, and value of AR

  • Assist in research, writing, and editing material, reports, articles to be published on behalf of AR business units

  • Own the planning and coordination of internal communications

  • Manage and maintain IBM Internal and External communities, ensuring these portals are frequently refreshed with relevant and informative content

  • Synthesize corporate announcements, leverage existing internal communications, and build easily consumable deliverables for analyst consumption

  • Provide strong project management and communication/storytelling skills

  • Adopt and ensure communications tools and methodologies are leveraged consistently across AR

  • Collaborate with AR BU teams regularly to understand their communications strategies, make recommendations on best practices, branding, approach, etc

  • Establish, grow, and expand the AR content and communications discipline and build strong external and internal community engagement

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years professional experience in communications, analyst relations, content/product marketing or related fields

  • Experience working in a large enterprise technology and services company

  • Experience working with digital content creation tools, such CMS and Adobe suite of products

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years professional experience in communications, analyst relations, content/product marketing or related fields

  • PMP or another Project Management Certification a plus
