Job Duties:

The IBM Virtual Test Platform team is seeking an experienced Assembler, C/C++, or Metal C Software Developer who is highly driven and technically prepared to join a world-class team where you'll be using Engineering Workflow Management to deliver state-of-the-art software products developed in Assembler and/or C/C++. You'll be a part of a highly skilled development team working with industry leaders in developing tools for the mainframe that power 90% of the top 100 banks globally and are used by over 90% of all Fortune 500 companies today. As a part of IBM Z, you will join our mission and commitment in delivering state of the art software technology which scales large enterprise mainframe systems.

About the Team

As a Software Developer, you will collaborate with developers, testers, technical writers, and architects. You may collaborate with designers in applying IBM Design Thinking methodology in software design based upon requirements gathered from stakeholders and Sponsor Users. You will use Assembler and/or C/C++ in your daily development work. Having knowledge of z/OS mainframe applications is required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Must have at least 4 years of experience in C/C++ You have an understanding of software development and unit testing

  • Willing to learn new programming languages

  • You are highly motivated and have a passion for creating and supporting great products

  • You thrive on collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines, and have very strong verbal and written communication skills

  • You are great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions to complex technical issues

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following additional languages/areas: Assembler, COBOL, PL/I

  • Knowledge of planning tools like Jira and RTC (EWM)

  • Knowledge of z/OS operating systems

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following subsystems: CICS, IMS, DB2, Batch, TSO

  • Demonstrated experience in leading or strongly contributing to software development projects
