We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Application Firewall Architect to lead the global defense of our critical web applications and web services. You could be an integral part of our dynamic, Agile, Research Triangle Park, NC based Global IBM CISO team, delivering, business critical, leading edge security capabilities across the application life-cycle.
Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role you will be you responsible for the following:
Develop and implement specific cybersecurity countermeasures for web applications and web services to reduce identified risk to an acceptable level.
Perform security reviews and identify security gaps in the delivered security capability resulting in recommendations for tuning and enhancement to meet organizational risk goals.
Provide the capabilities for timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous transactions, and misuse activities and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.
Maintain an organizational view of the application environment and provide a risk-based prioritization for deployment and tuning.
Maintain a sense of urgency as you drive deployment and tuning projects to completion.
Apply expert knowledge of the application firewall concepts and functions in both cloud and on-premises deployment models.
Skills and Abilities:
Create, edit, and manage web application firewall rules and capabilities.
Apply advanced knowledge of Application Security Risks (e.g. Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 list, buffer overflows, cross-site scripting, Procedural Language/Structured Query Language [PL/SQL] and injections, race conditions, covert channel, replay, return-oriented attacks, malicious code).
Maintain and apply knowledge of emerging web security issues, risks, and vulnerabilities.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
You are a good fit for this role if you can identify optimal solutions to technical web security problems, pro-actively identify and address risk, and are adaptable in the face of changing priorities. From a technical expertise perspective, you will succeed in this job if you have 5+ year(s) of experience in:
Web Application Firewall configuration, tuning and operations on a large scale.
Identifying and remediating web application and web service security risks and vulnerabilities.
Prioritizing and managing project work aligned with risks.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Hands-on experience with cloud delivered and on-premises web application firewalls (e.g., Akamai Kona, Signal Sciences).
Web and web service penetration testing experience.
Web application security related consulting experience.
