IBM Project Manager/CIO Domain Transfer Lead in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Your Role and Responsibilities

Professional dedicated to register, transfer and renew internet domain names on behalf of IBM that will be working in the Mergers and Acquisitions team. This professional will participate in the Integration Projects and will be reporting to the IT Infrastructure squad lead to transfer ownership of Internet domain names from the acquired business to IBM.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Interlock with the acquired teams that admin domain manes to understand what Internet domain names need to be transferred to IBM, get proper information (accounts, passwords, registrar names and contacts, etc.) to perform transfers, track and report progress, address any issues (locked accounts, lost passwords, etc.)

Interlock with IBM's domains admin to report domains being transferred and status, request letters of ownership, proofs of ownership, etc. required to perform the transfers when needed form local registrars, request IBM payment of those domains expiring to avoid losing property.

Interlock with registrars around the world to perform the actual transfer and provide any documentation or information required.

Interlock with global root-level name servers operators (Internet authorities) and Regional Internet Registries: RIPE, ARIN, APNIC, LACNIC, AfriNIC in case special requirements are needed.

Track and report progress to the IT Infrastructure lead, escalate any issues and request support, provide estimated dates of completion.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

  • Knowledge of data analysis and metrics reporting

  • Ability to communicate with internal and external audiences in both written and oral format

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Systems / IT Tech experience required

  • Experience in communication systems and support required

  • Experience interlocking with providers, third parties and global operators

  • Must be fluent in English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Good understanding of Internet Protocol (IP), DNS (Domain Name System), Top Level Domains (TLD) and Generic Top Level Domains (gTLD), their differences and policies

  • General understanding of e-mail, WWW, and FTP services concepts and operation

  • Understanding of IP addressing and translation, networks, assignation and IPV4 and IPV6 concepts and function

  • Project Management
