Your Role and Responsibilities

Client Technical Specialists are technical consultants to clients, IBM sales teams and/or IBM Business Partners. They understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape. They provide technical sales support which may include: collaborate with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions; deliver Proof of Concept; develop and deliver technical education; support critical situations; design solutions; and answer technical questions. When engaged for a specific opportunity or project, they are responsible for the technical accuracy of the proposed solution. The employee Influences the functional strategy.

  • Communication/Negotiation: Adapt communications & approaches to conclude negotiations with various partners, resulting in common agreements. Work with Client Teams, Labs, & product experts to gain agreement on solution strategies for our clients.

  • Problem Solving: Analyze complex/new situations, anticipate potential problems and future trends, assess opportunities, impacts, & risks. Develop & implement solutions appropriate for our clients by integrating our solutions into their 'to be' architectures.

  • Contribution/Leadership : Influences people and organizations, including executive management, when issues are complex/difficult & require considerable diplomacy. Considerable latitude in responsibilities to define & decide on tools, processes, priorities & resources following general business unit directives.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with the Omegamon suite of performance monitoring tools - usage and configuration.Experience with competitive performance monitoring tools for z/OS would be acceptable.

  • Basic knowledge of z/OS subsystems being monitored is required (Db2 z/OS, CICS, WebSphere z/OS and others)

  • Background in end-to-end monitoring tools such as Z Application Performance Management Connect.

  • Ability to demonstrate and present technical topics to both business and technical audiences

  • Ability to understand customer requirements and match them to the correct technical solution

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years with the usage and configuration of the Omegamon suite of performance monitoring tools (or competitive z/OS performance monitoring tool equivalent)

  • 5+ years working in an environment monitoring several different z/OS subsystems

  • Understanding of the value and use of Z analytical tools in IT operations such as IBM Z Operational Analytics, Splunk and others.

  • Background in automation tooling for z/OS

  • High level problem determination skills in the technical areas listed
