IBM zLinux/KVM Development Test in Poughkeepsie, New York

Your Role and Responsibilities

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY (with potential short term training in Endicott)

Linux kernel developer: The IBM Z KVM and Linux development team is developing the IBM Z specific parts of Linux and the KVM kernel module of the Linux kernel. This is the component that drives many different virtualization stacks from simple virt-manager, over Openstack to all modern cloud infrastructure. The candidate will work on extensions that will enable new use cases that require better architectural compliance for more classic type of workloads. At the same time the candidate will interact with the Linux open source community to integrate the changes into the public Linux repositories.

Job Duties:

Linux/KVM development and testing work working with worldwide team and open source community. The team is based in Poughkeepsie, NY, Endicott NY and Boeblingen Germany.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Interested in integrating systems for building complex test automation solutions

  • Interested in debugging failing test cases in collaboration with test and development teams.

  • Open Mindset for learning about automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible)

  • Linux Operating System skills

  • Exposure to Open Source

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Preferable BS in CS or CE or EE

  • Test automation with Jenkins or other CI/CD technologies

  • Linux scripting (bash, python)

  • Scripting with Groovy (or Java)

  • Linux test automation engineer

  • System integration testing with CI/CD

  • IBM z architecture knowledge, I/O architecture skills
