Join us as we continue innovating across enterprise Z products to provide our clients with solutions that power their mission. We're looking for a well-rounded Design Researcher to join the IBM Z Design team. In this role, you will be responsible for tasks associated with user research, design and strategy to create the best experience on the IBM Z platforms. You'll work directly with a cross-functional team to tackle complex business challenges alongside other creators and strategists. You are a systematic thinker, able to see the big picture but also enjoy diving deep into important details.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Job Duties :

  • Identify best method or mix of methods based on research questions, timeline and resourcing.

  • Distill project goals and research questions into well thought out research plans.

  • Guide business goals to align with user needs and translate business requirements into design objectives.

  • Synthesize user research to translate insights into actions and requirements to help define project scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risks.

  • Plan, design, and conduct activities to identify user needs and to inform persona development.

  • Conduct user research with a range of end users to better understand their needs and with the cross-functional teams to develop key insights on improving the client experience.

  • Conduct user research with rigor while ensuring participant comfort.

  • Actively schedule stand-ups, playbacks, reviews and present design to all different level of stakeholders.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements, documentation and presentations.

  • Perform quick but thorough data analysis to create insightful and actionable findings presentations- both verbal and written.

  • Evaluate and validate early designs through usability testing.

  • Manage iterative prototyping through close alignment with design & engineering teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in design research.

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise product design.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in user experience efforts

  • A minimum of 1 year of end-to-end experience of all aspects of research (study, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting).

  • A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, international research, and survey design.

  • Ability to quickly turn around high-quality user journeys, study plans, and reports.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.

  • Behavioral data-collection and analysis skills, e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data.

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, navigate uncertain roadmaps, and multitask in an agile environment.

  • Natural curiosity is accompanied by an extreme bias towards making and a willingness to learn.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proven experience in oral and written communications and presentations

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Preferred Requirements :

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of formal education in design research.
