Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Technical Professional to represent the IBM Asset Management solution portfolio (Maximo) in a Solutions Engineer, Pre-Sales role. As an active member of the sales team, you will be engaging in customer facing activities and lead all technical aspects of the sale with a growth mindset in support of meeting revenue targets. You will be responsible for the technical accuracy and feasibility of proposed solutions , lead the technical solution design , and answer technical questions throughout the sales cycle, all in support of our customers' business initiatives. You will translate the customers' business and operational requirements into the delivery of compelling technical presentations, custom demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and proof of concepts . You spark and progress the customers' interest in IBM Asset Management solutions, from the first meeting to the implementation. You will thereby develop strong customer relationships by establishing yourself as a trusted advisor with deep technical expertise in Asset Management.

As the ideal candidate you possess a solid understanding of Asset Management and have professional experience in the field as well as practical experience in working with IBM Maximo or competitor solutions. You have practical experience in industrial maintenance and workforce management areas, which enables you to quickly demonstrate to prospects how Asset Management technology, specifically IBM Maximo, will improve their industry use cases. This technical role requires an understanding of the underlying architecture of IBM Maximo leveraging hybrid cloud technology (OpenShift) and being able to demonstrate the value of advanced Maximo Asset Performance Management capabilities based on Artificial Intelligence (computer vision, natural language, predictive maintenance) to our customers. In this customer facing role, strong spoken and written communication and presentation skills are required ( both German and English ). The motivation to take on new projects and to maintain a high level of IBM solution expertise and competitive knowledge is key to success in this role.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • University degree in the field of engineering or IT, or equivalent vocational training combined with relevant professional experience.

  • Experience in the software industry as a presales or software consultant or applied industry asset management skills as a subject matter expert or reliability engineer.

  • Excellent knowledge of maintenance practices in e.g., energy and utilities, transportation, manufacturing, or process industry.

  • Proven ability to articulate and deliver compelling, industry focused, technical solutions and value propositions related to Asset Management and Cognitive Solutions.

  • Motivation to develop and maintain strong platform and offering knowledge and ability to articulate the value proposition/ROI, competitive landscape, and relevant use cases to drive sales.

  • Clear understanding of business trends, issues, and challenges in the industrial marketplace.

  • Technical sales and/or software demo experience.

  • Ability to work effectively across teams with varying skills, industry expertise and objectives.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Asset Performance Management (APM) with associated qualifications.

  • Understanding of asset management processes and product offerings.

  • Understanding of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes with at least basic skills.

  • Understanding of one or more markets/industries where asset management is essential to its operational side of its business.

  • Ability to communicate IT solutions in a simple, understandable way to a non-IT person from the business line.

  • Comfortable with delivering multiple demos per week to customers, readiness to travel

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluent (oral and written) in both German and English.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience in reliability engineering or industrial maintenance services.

  • Strong technical depth in foundational enterprise technologies such as operating systems (Linux and Windows), relational database tooling and organization (schema definitions, SQL, query execution), industrial integration, hypervisor & container technologies (KVM, VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes), data science and artificial intelligence (machine learning, advanced analytics), and Enterprise Asset Management systems (Maximo, SAP PM/EAM).

  • Red Hat OpenShift certifications or accreditations specifically related to the deployment of OpenShift certified containers.

  • Hands on experience in configuring and customizing IT solutions.

  • Proven track record of professional Social Media activities or blogging.
