IBM Sr. Managing Consultant, Supply Chain Project Director in New York, New York

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Supply Chain Project Director, you will be a key contributor to the development of supply chain strategies assisting in process design, configuration, testing and training. The position will work with internal and external clients to understand the movement of goods throughout the supply chain.

This position will work within IBM to support the development of new solutions and technology implementations for clients.

Responsibilities:

Supports clients to determine business issues and recommend operations strategy solutions to drive business value. Applies in-depth consulting skills and business knowledge aligned to business objectives, processes, measurements and tools to analyze client business issues, formulate hypotheses and test conclusions to determine appropriate solutions, methodologies (e.g., agile).

  • Focus on next generation Supply Chain Operations which provides organizations with the ability to recognize operational improvements across many areas of their value chain including customer service, product quality, cycle time, asset utilization, forecasting, inventory management.

  • Formulates long term supply chain strategies encompassing infrastructure, assets, organization, processes and technology using appropriate emerging technologies.

  • Helps clients develop logistics strategy & implement new technologies in Warehousing, Transportation, and Reverse Logistics that result in significant cost reduction and client service improvement. Identifies best practices and client performance gaps, if any.

  • Identify barriers to productivity and provide cost/benefit analysis and impact to the client

  • Identify trends in client business, both positive and negative, to identify opportunities for improvement new controls, and recognize successes, through actionable metric monitoring

  • Use tools to identify, align, and change the factors that affect performance, stability, and teaming and develops comprehensive transformation recommendations.

  • Assists clients in the selection, implementation and support of Supply Chain Execution-Related Systems (e.g., WMS, TMS).

  • Maintain a working knowledge of current technology, regulatory impacts and shifts in the market as required

  • Continue to expand supply chain knowledge through learning

  • Requires consulting skills, business knowledge, and packaged solution expertise to effectively integrate packaged technology into the client's operations environment in order to achieve client expected business results.

  • Contribute to the development of intellectual content and assets to position IBM as a thought leader in Supply Chain

  • Work with clients on changing customer demands, regulatory impacts and shifts in the market as required

  • Continue to expand supply chain knowledge through learning.

* Preferred cities: NYC, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Columbus, OH, Houston and San Francisco, CA. Travel up to 75%.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 7+ years of experience transforming supply chain organizations

  • At least 7+ years of experience or equivalent working for a consulting organization

  • Experience consulting to clients in the retail, consumer products, manufacturing and distribution industries

  • Strong knowledge of emerging supply chain solutions

  • Experience with ERP

  • Distribution supply chain and logistics experience

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively and partner with coworkers across all levels.

  • Willingness to travel up to 75%

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 10+ years of experience transforming supply chain organizations

  • At least 10+ years of experience working for a consulting services organization as a consultant

  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence concepts such as inventory allocation, network optimization and demand sensing.
