Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Solution Architect you'll be a pivotal team member who connects the client's technical functional and implementation requirements with a solution design and proposal. You'll work closely with clients and sellers to build solutions based on the meeting the client's business outcomes and known best practices for the technology and industry. You'll design, and construct build work breakdown structure leading to the rough order of magnitude leading to the price and statement of work. A successful Solution Architect will demonstrate a natural bias towards self-motivation and navigating data and people to find answers and present solutions that ensure world class delivery.

  • Provide technical solution leadership on projects, strive for out of the box delivery, but design solutions or facilitate product enhancements to address product gaps.

  • Leverage relationships with Support, Product Management, and Development to proactively address engagement challenges.

  • Personally contribute to the project success.

  • Manage individual scope & services according to the SOW; Escalate scope creep and other project issues.

  • Proactively seek out documentation such as the SOW at the commencement of an engagement to be able understand and articulate my role on the project.

  • Develop and maintain strong client/partner relationships

  • Mentor junior employees to enable their success in IBM

  • Provide developmental feedback to fellow team members on projects.

  • Contribute to IBM Commerce conferences (or other) if requested

  • Create, use, and share Intellectual Capital (reusable assets).

  • Develop, use, and share published Best Practices to improve results and efficiency of the integration team

  • Provide feedback to the Product Management and Development team based on customer requirements or implementation issues.

  • Assist Support during critical situations and deployments of my projects. understand how to engage and escalate problems as appropriate.

  • Assist Sales with pre-sales opportunities as directed by management

  • Assist Management in recruiting efforts through timely use of social networks

  • Promote and manage application of quality processes, tools & training among peers.

  • Provide feedback to management team for ways to increase departmental operational efficiencies.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong experience with capacity planning, scalability, performance, and load testing.

  • Strong knowledge of integration concepts and commonly used patterns, able to apply such knowledge in solution design

  • Experience or strong knowledge of communication and data handling protocols (AS2, PGP/GPG, S/MIME, HTTPS, FTPS/SFTP/SCP/OFTP, POP3/SMTP, Web Services/SOAP/REST, WebDAV, etc.)

  • Experience or strong knowledge of industry data standards (ACH, ANSI X12, EDIFACT, HIPAA, RosettaNet, SWIFT, TRADCOMS, etc.)

  • Experience or strong knowledge of application programming/scripting technologies (Java/J2EE, AJX, ASP, BPEL/BPML, SQLXSLT, Linux/Unix/Windows shell scripts)

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise database technologies like Oracle RAC, DB2, and MS SQL Server Enterprise

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise database technologies like Oracle RAC, DB2, and MS SQL Server Enterprise

  • Highly skilled in complex problem solving, critical thinking, applying judgment, building consensus, and decision making

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff

  • Strong business analysis, technical analysis, analytical & critical thinking, decision making ability

(5+ years of experience) include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Experience working with IBM complementary products: IBM WebSphere family, Cognos

  • IBM Cloudant, IBM Partner Engagement Manager (PEM)

  • Knowledge of ETL, JSON

  • Knowledge of popular ERP systems, such as SAP

  • Strong experience working with senior IT and non-IT executives on a daily basis

  • Demonstrated experience in multi-shore management, teamwork and execution

  • Experience and strong business acumen with non-IBM integration and managed file transfer technologies

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
