Your Role and Responsibilities

Summary Description: This leader will drive the execution and engagement around the key CSR programs across the region and will interact with the education sector, startup ecosystems and the NGO key partners for IBM. He or she will be the direct interface to IBM U.S. business leaders and work closely with Communications, Government Relations, Human Resources, University Relations, Marketing, and other functions to achieve our objectives. He or she must be constantly scanning the external environment for trends and anticipating key issues and responding accordingly.

Development of Strategy: This leader must understand the overarching IBM strategy for IBM CSR. Focus on tracking the evolving state agendas is required. He or she will then blend those inputs to develop a local strategy that is aligned with corporate goals and locally relevant issues. The CSR Manager will design and execute programs and projects to improve IBM's reputation among all stakeholders including employees.

This role will require entrepreneurism and fast execution abilities to succeed with focus on driving the IBM CSR's main agenda in Education and Skills, leveraging relationships mentioned above as well as IBM US employee's participation in giving and volunteering. S/he will lead the build of relationships with external organizations, partners and influencers to bring IBM CSR into the ecosystem. S/he will work communications to lead, shape and promote an IBM CSR point of view around technology and in relevant ecosystems and communities globally. Research and develop best practices in program area, especially as they relate to IBM's CSR portfolio. Be recognized as a team player in the community and within IBM. Manage budget for delivery of programs and associated processes and business.

Influence on Business: CSR is increasingly important to overall IBM's business success. In many sectors, IBM needs to consider the ESG ranking to bid on business. Social and Brand reputation is paradigm for business success. This leader will oversee CSR projects and programs in the region and make sure they are in compliance with the law while advancing IBM's strategy and reputation.

CSR Storytelling: Raise the profile of the IBM Corporation and its brand by locally focusing on IBM as a leader in CSR & social innovation, and as an attractive employer. Work with the communications team to ensure effective communication of IBM's key messages and strategies relating to CSR to internal and external audiences, and coordinate with other IBM functions including HR, Government Programs, Communications and Marketing.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10 years of experience managing philanthropic resources; experience evaluating outcomes-based programs

  • Demonstrated experience establishing metrics, jointly with the community and colleagues, based on outcomes and measures of success related to priority focus areas

  • Demonstrated experience in business development and/or sales experience required

  • Functional understanding of K-12 education and workforce development

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Communication and Public Speaking skills (verbal and written)

  • Comfort with remote working and digital solutions (Trello, Webex, Zenhub, Mural)

  • Organizational skills; Time management

  • Professionalism; Structured thinking; Solution-focused mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.

  • Influencer relationships with NGO's, federal, state & local government and in education sector: Understanding of non-profit sector, educational organizations (Global & US)

  • Adaptability to different environments and cultures

  • Stakeholder management

  • Adept at listening for client needs and solutioning to meet those needs
