Your Role and Responsibilities
The Compensation & Benefits (C&B) Tax team provides advice and counsel to numerous internal clients regarding employment and corporate tax compliance and optimization for its compensation and benefits plans, policies and programs.
As a Global Tax Advisor, Compensation & Benefits, you will provide tax advice and counsel to IBM HR and other cross-functional stakeholders with respect to acquisitions and divestitures, awards and recognition, equity compensation, and executive compensation, including taxable perquisites such as company-provided travel and subsistence. In addition, the Global C&B Advisor provides audit and planning support.
You will use your subject matter expertise to advise internal clients on the taxation of golden parachutes executive incentive and non-qualified deferred compensation, global equity compensation, including but not limited to, stock options, performance share units, restricted stock units, and restricted stock.
You will analyze tax rules, apply them to complex fact patterns, and deliver written and oral advice in a clear, concise, collaborative, and unequivocal manner.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
7+ years' experience in accounting with extensive skills in payroll; or compensation and benefits with a focus on tax.
Strong understanding of employee payroll tax, workers compensation, employee share reporting rules and other tax related issues.
At least 5 years of tax advisory experience with a BIG 4 accounting firm, law firm or large multinational in one or more subject areas named above (awards and recognition, HR business development, executive and equity compensation).
Experience working within a large-scale Global Organizations.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Master's Degree (MBA; Accounting/Taxation) or Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD)
EA, CPA, CEP and/or BAR certification/admission
