Your Role and Responsibilities

Data and AI Technical Specialists are the technical experts and advisors to clients, IBM sales teams and/or IBM Business Partners. As a Data and AI Technical Specialists you understand the client's business requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape. You apply your business insights, build and maintain client relationships, incorporate hardware, software and services into client-valued solutions and ensure client readiness for the implementation of technical solutions. As the Americas Senior technical sales specialist for Cloud Pak for Data, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise, deep technical assistance, mentorship and strategic focus for the market sales and technical sales team members. As part of the Americas team you will work to create sales plays and the requisite artifacts, business plans, technical demos, architectures, and enablement materials. You will liaise with the market leadership to train market resources on the assets you create, and directly assist them as an escalation resource on customer opportunities. Your success will be directly measured by the growth of both sales pipeline and deal closure.

Technical Sales Specialists covering Data and AI - Cloud Pak for Data act as technical consultants to clients and IBM sellers, and provide technical sales support, such as delivering Proofs of Concept (POC) and architecting Data and AI solutions that include Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D), OpenShift, Cognos Analytics, DataStage, Db2, Data Virtualization and Watson Studio.

IBMers in Technical Sales have deep technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the clients business and technical environment, as well as in-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape. They succeed through deep technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the client's business and technical environment. Technical sellers help to differentiate IBM solutions from competitive offerings. They develop and manage client relationships within the clients technical and business community.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3 years of experience with Cloud Pak for Data Tools including at least one of the following disciplines: Database and/or Data Governance and/or Data Science and/or Watson Services (Watson Assistant, Watson Discovery) * Client Side/ Business Functional Experience with these tools qualifies

  • Experience presenting Cloud Pak for Data technology concepts to executives and technical teams

  • Knowledgeable about modern platform technologies including RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Microservices, Container based architecture

  • Experience with applying technical solution to solve business problems

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience as an Enterprise Technical Sales specialist working with clients across different industries

  • Hands on experience with the Cloud Pak for Data Portfolio including: Database, Data Virtualization, Data Governance, Reporting, Data Science, Watson Assistant, Watson Discovery

  • Hands on experience with RedHat OpenShift and OpenShift Container Storage.

  • Skilled in solution/consultative selling with the ability to lead and facilitate discovery sessions with clients across multiple organizations
