IBM Site Reliability Engineer in Monroe, Louisiana

Introduction

IBM Site Reliability Engineer work directly with our clients on key initiatives. You will have the opportunity to build an in-depth understanding of their business issues and implement organizational strategies that drive adoption of change. Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Client Innovation Center (CIC) represents a center of excellence for delivery of consulting and technological services.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an engineering discipline that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE is a key role in our growing and dynamic IBM Planning Analytics on Cloud organization. This technical role is focused on deploying, maintaining, and automating wide ranges of operational tasks for the IBM Planning Analytics on Cloud application. You will work collaboratively with the entire cloud organization and IBM vendors to support, maintain, and operationally improve the reliability of the application.

About the Role:

As an IBM Site Reliability Engineer, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders. You will work with various projects and clients, working towards client specifications. Your role will involve:

  • Working within the entire development life cycle including design, build, and coding

  • Working in an Agile, collaborative environment to deploy, configure, and maintain systems, which may include software installations, updates, and core services

  • Working with customers to help them resolve their issues or queries

  • Maintaining the reliability, stability, and efficiency of the platform, including being an active participant in incident response and incident management, which may include being on-call

  • Using object-oriented programming languages and tools to deliver a range of solutions

  • Participating in the analysis of system and business requirements to provide hands-on solutions to meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

The successful candidates for this position will become members of our Client Innovation Team. You will work closely across the CIC network to delight our customers with leading edge solutions with a keen focus on quality and client satisfaction. In addition to strong collaboration across the team, you will be virtually integrated into our deep learning and knowledge program as well as employee engagement across NA. All resources in our CIC network may be requested to travel depending on specific client project needs. US Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and client relationship building at the client site, as well as subsequent travel for key milestones or project initiatives. Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Fully versed in Cloud technology (AWS, Azure, Google, and/or Red Hat)

  • Able to manage automation capabilities across Cloud infrastructure

  • Knowledge of hybrid Cloud administration and development

  • Able to support Cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, Google, and/or Red Hat)

  • Able to manage and support new and existing Cloud services, platforms, and tech stacks

  • 2+ years of Docker and/or Kubernetes

  • 2+ years of scripting (Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell)

  • Experience with source and project control (GitHub Enterprise, ZenHub, and/or Jira)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with breaking down application monoliths to microservices

  • Experience with loosely coupled service-oriented and /or event-driven architecture

  • Experience with toolchains

  • Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible

  • Familiarity with load balancing, geo routing, and proxying

  • Monitoring and logging tools (Nagios, QRadar, New Relic, sysdig, and/or logDNA)

  • Continuous Integration platforms (Jenkins and/or TeamCity)

  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards & requirements
