IBM DevOps Developer Intern (8 Months) in Markham, Ontario

Your Role and Responsibilities

This position resides in Markham, Ontario and is an 8 month work term commencing May 2022. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

While at IBM, you'll be expected to draw upon your technical skill set and make important contributions to our popular IBM Planning Analytics cloud offering, collaborating daily in an agile development environment with a motivated team of experienced cloud engineers.

This technical role is focused on deploying and maintaining cloud applications. These activities include automating a wide range of operational toil, as well as connecting with product management, development teams and end users, to solve complex problems.

Each day, you will attend daily team scrums and project meetings to make important contributions to the development and optimization of our architecture. Engineers are encouraged to create automated solutions continue building and optimizing our cloud and deployment infrastructure.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Must be eligible for an 8 month work term commencing May 2022.

  • Windows/Linux Windows Administration (Windows 2012, 2019, Linux)

  • Applied scripting and automation either Powershell or Python

  • Experience with at least one programming language (Java, C/C++, C#, Go, Javascript)

  • Source and project control (GitHub Enterprise, ZenHub)

  • Configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Rundeck)

  • You are great at solving problems, debugging, and designing & implementing solutions to complex technical problems

  • You have very strong verbal and written communication skills, including having attention to details.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Co-op or internship program enrollment is preferred.

  • Scripting languages (Ruby, Python, PERL, Shell)

  • Virtualization and Container orchestration (Hypervisor, Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Continuous Integration platforms (Jenkins, TeamCity, Travis CI)

  • NoSQL databases, key-stores and other data-structure solutions (MongoDB, Redis)

  • Virtual application and web servers (Apache, NGINX, WebSphere, IIS)

  • Familiarity with load balancing, geo routing, and proxying

  • Networking -Firewalls and Load Balancing (Vyatta, StrongSwan)

  • Data Warehousing and Analysis (Cognos Analytics, Planning Analytics, Controller)

  • Experience managing multi-user Linux or Windows Administration environments

Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
