IBM DevOps Developer for Java Applications in Markham, Ontario

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are a software development team seeking proven contributors and creative team players looking for challenges and impact in an agile, fast paced and rewarding environment. You will be a member of the worldwide Liberty development team. You will actively participate in developing cutting edge technology for development ecosystem, helping developers around the world to easily and seamlessly develop and deploy cloud-native applications on Open Liberty platform.

Your experience in developing Java-based applications, coupled with knowledge of DevOps and working knowledge working with multiple clouds, will enable you to envision, prototype and deliver enhancements and assets for DevOps practices to be used by developers around the world, using our tools and applications. You will be the bridge between local development and application deployment into production environments.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and to apply those technologies to solve complex problems

  • Working experience developing and deploying Java applications using containers to cloud platforms like Azure, Amazon or Red Hat OpenShift

  • Working experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes

  • Working experience with building CI/CD pipelines

  • Track record of implementing DevOps practices

  • Experience with agile development methodologies

  • Experience with open-source technologies and proficient with GitHub

  • Good presentation skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Working knowledge of cloud-native and enterprise Java technologies like Java EE, Jakarta EE and MicroProfile

  • Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Liberty and Open Liberty

  • Experience with cloud-native Java application development and deployments for enterprises

  • Ability to write concise and user-friendly documentation

  • Working knowledge of Go and scripting languages

  • Experience with using and writing Kubernetes Operators

  • Knowledge of microservices

Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
