IBM Cloud Backend Developer in Markham, Ontario


Preferred Locations: Ottawa. Fredericton or Markham

Your Role and Responsibilities

The global cost of cyber-crime is expected to reach over 2 trillion dollars by 2019. At IBM Security, our mission is to protect our clients from various attacks including malware, identity thief, fraud etc. IBM Security delivers an integrated system of analytics, real-time defenses and proven experts; and we are looking for Software Developers to come make a difference.

As a valued member of a scrum team, you will be responsible for primarily backend development on a cloud product called Cloud Pak For Security. The team you will be joining is comprised of 6 people with each person's daily tasks starting with Daily Scrum. You will be required to articulate what you're currently working on and what blockers you are facing, if any. On occasion, the team will be asked to focus on resolving critical issues on time while also occasionally being asked to help out customer support.

When doing feature work or defect work, you will be asked to demonstrate what you were able to accomplish during the Sprint End Review and also participate in the planning of what the team needs to work on next through bi-weekly Backlog Grooming meetings.

Preferred Locations: Ottawa. Fredericton or Markham

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience as a Technical Lead for a team(s) would be a preferred

  • Some experience with the following: Kubernetes, Microservices, Cloud DevOps, optimizing systems that deal with huge volumes of data and knowledge of how APIs work

  • Mentorship experience

  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner

  • Experience with JavaScript, ReactJS, UX Design

  • Automation experience

  • Performance engineering experience

Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
