IBM Application Consultant-IBM Sterling in Columbus, Ohio

IBM Application Consultants work directly with our clients on key initiatives. You will have the opportunity to build an in-depth understanding of their business issues and implement organizational strategies that drive adoption of change. Your Role and Responsibilities

As Application Consultant, you will assist in the delivery of customer implementations to new and existing Managed Services customers. This role will work as a lead team member in the solution design and will participate in the implementation of solution components such as the creation of partners, mailbox setups, network setups, and scheduling, scripting, and other processes. The Application Consultant will respond to customer issues and questions within established customer support guidelines and escalate as necessary. They will provide technical guidance to more junior implementers and maintain established Service Level Agreements (SLA) with a high level of customer satisfaction for all service levels.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs solutions design services between customer systems and IBM's GIODE environment

  • Performs implementation setup of transactions between customer systems and IBM's GIODE environment

  • Supports New Customer Sales process in the area of EDI data mappings, capabilities and implementation processes

  • Provides technical leadership and direction to other implementers and analysts on implementation projects

  • Tracks deliverables on a project to ensure on-time implementation and delivery

  • Manages project resources including internal and supplemental staff to ensure overall quality of deliverables

  • Provides implementation and product support activities on GIS/GENTRAN products for customers

  • Collaborates with internal development and project team to create documentation for support of Managed Services customers

  • Proactively contacts customers to alert and resolve identified problems; reacts and resolves customer-initiated problems

  • Assists in the quality assurance process to improve product quality and ensure implementation of high-quality product features and functions

  • Mentors and develops more implementation specialists through hands-on training and reviewing and provides feedback of work

Key to the Role:

  • Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to think independently and critically

  • Knowledge of infrastructure associated with EDI processes, hardware, communications option, and protocols

  • Ability to work with application owners to understand data requirements of individual systems

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience implementing GENTRAN, Sterling Integrator (GIS), or similar translation applications, data mapping and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications such as Security Authentication Providers (SAP), Oracle and/or Peoplesoft, Windows 3.x/95/98/NT/2000/XP and Structured Query Language (SQL) Servers

If you are hired into a Colorado work location, the anticipated compensation range for the position $81,000 to $162,000 is based on a full-time schedule. Your ultimate compensation may vary depending on your job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3 years of technical support experience

  • 2 years experience working with customer interfaces

  • 3 years of GENTRAN/GIS technical implementation experience

  • 3 years of EDI experience

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5 years of experience in GIS/GENTRAN technical implementation

  • 5 years of experience in EDI

  • 3 years of experience in expertise working with carious customer interfaces

  • 5 years of technical support experience

  • Completion of required education in Computer Science or related field
