Your Role and Responsibilities
The Federal Service Sector consulting practice is a trusted advisor to federal, state and local governments, partnering to meet challenges and responding quickly to citizen demands, business needs, new economic conditions, and changing legislative priorities and policies.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible assisting Tier 1 SOC Analysts with potential and confirmed security incident investigations and forensics.
You will perform deep dive investigations into security events that are escalated by Tier 1 SOC Analyst as well as assist with security incident identification, research and resolution.
This may involve assisting with monitoring, threat hunting, tracking, and analyzing networks/systems for potential security violations/anomalies and responding to all such incidents.
You will work with other security team members and system administrators to investigate potential security violations, respond, and report accordingly.
This position is part of the IBM Managed Shared Services (MSS) Security Operations Center (SOC) which is responsible for the delivery of SOC security services operating 24x7x365 supporting US Federal, DoD and State and Local clients Public Sector clients
You will be working with both internal IBM teams as well as clients to investigate and resolve security incidents.
As it is part of a 24x7x365 team, this position will be part of an on-call rotation for support after hours in the event of a security incident.
70% of time – Security incident investigation, event correlation, forensics.
20% of time – Cyber hunt, event monitoring, report generation, documentation
10% of time – Mentoring Tier 1 and Tier 2 SOC Analysts

If you are hired into a Colorado work location, the anticipated compensation range for the position ($102,000.00 to 158,000.00) is based on a full time schedule. Your ultimate compensation may vary depending on your job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Cyber security operations – 5+ years
Security Event Log Analysis and Correlation – 5+ years
Network/System traffic/event analysis –3+ years
Analytical and Correlation Tools – 3+ years
Experience in security and network incident response procedures – 3+ years
Excellent teamwork, written, oral communication, and formal documentation skills
CISSP or Security+ security certification required
Escalation Point for Tier 1 SOC Analysts
Clearance: Active DoD Secret
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Knowledge of or experience with SOAR and EDR technologies – 2+ years
Understanding of firewalls and intrusion prevention/detection systems including the ability to demonstrate a mature understanding of networking best practices – 2+ years
Experience with the following specific tools: QRadar, Nessus Security Center, Trend Micro AV
Associates or BS degree in Cyber, Computer Science, or related field
Certification such as CISM.CISA, CGEIT, CIPP/G, CIPP/US
Clearance : Active DoD Top Secret
