Your Role and Responsibilities

Do you have a passion for hands on Red Hat Enterprise System Administrator and Cloud platform architecture. Do you like to work at all levels ranging from setting technical direction to doing hands-on work?

This role resides within the CIO Hybrid Cloud Platforms division of the CIO organization. You will build and administer the CIO Hybrid Cloud Platforms that provides the platforms and infrastructure that powers IBM.

As a member of the CIO Hybrid cloud team, you'll have the opportunity to lead and solve the complex challenges of scale which are unique to our OpenShift platform, while using your expertise in Scripting, configuration, automation, analysis and large-scale OpenShift system design.

You will be able to apply your skills to a variety of projects, further develop your expertise with state-of-the-art tools and technologies, and have a positive impact on IBMers worldwide.

Your duties will include:

  • Hands-on with Architecting, building, maintaining and running a multi-tenant OpenShift hybrid cloud platform

  • Well versed with Cluster Resource management and Cloud deployment, including monitoring systems, logging and security implementation

  • Designing solutions on cloud platform and mitigate threats

  • Working in partnership with development team for scripting, testing, and implementation, and support of designed solutions.

  • Automating implementation of solutions using Configuration Management automation tools and Continuous Integration job scheduling tools .

The location is open but these would be the preferred cities: Armonk, NY, New York, NY; Southbury, CT; Research Triangle Park, NC or Austin, TX.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • OpenShift / K8s Administration experience. (Building, patching, maintaining clusters)

  • Containerized Application experience. (Building containers, rolling out deployments, services, routes, pod-to-pod communication)

  • Strong understanding of Linux systems administration (Network protocols/flows, processes, filesystems, namespaces, services)

  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production systems

  • Deployment automation (Ansible, Terraform, Argo)

  • Software development experience (Golang, Python)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Image and binary repo experience (managing or using)

  • Building and supporting service offerings

  • DevOps experience (git, Jenkins, travis)

  • DB experience (basic SQL, explain plans, indexes, stats etc)

  • Datastage, spark, Watson Servies, Cognos, DB2 family, etc.
