IBM Software Engineer - Backend (IBM Security) in Austin, Texas

Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Security team is looking for an experienced back-end Java developer responsible for building a secure and scalable software solution for IBM Security Verify SaaS. Your primary focus will be development of back-end services with high quality and high performance. You will also have opportunities to collaborate and contribute to front-end development. This is an opportunity to grow both leadership, technical and interpersonal skills, as well as to help bridge the gap between design, engineering, and offering management across multiple projects.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Contribute to the end-to-end software development lifecycle by designing, developing, testing, and supporting new microservice features.

Contribute to a high-quality performance code base, further improving the code base through writing unit tests, automation, and code reviews.

Develop APIs to the specifications of an agreed to design and API contract.

Lead solutions from start to finish, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Architecture, Product Management, and developers to identify scenarios and dependencies.

Oversee day to day development activities of your microservice team(s).

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Minimum 8 years of Java development experience

Minimum 8 years of experience building RESTful APIs

Minimum 4 years of experience with Databases (e.g. DB2, Postgres, CouchDB, Cloudant, Redis)

Minimum 2 years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Minimum 2 years of experience working with CI/CD processes, DevOps methodologies and tools

such as git and Jenkins

Minimum 2 years of experience development using Linux

Minimum 4 years of experience in ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others to debug and solve problems

Minimum 4 years of experience in effective communication skills with the ability to demonstrate and explain complex designs in a simple to understand way

Minimum 4 years of experience in understanding of Agile methodologies with the ability to break up requirements into more manageable tasks

Minimum 4 years of experience in time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Minimum 2 years of experience with Messaging systems like RabbitMQ

Minimum 1 year of experience with Redhat OpenShift Container Platform

Minimum 2 years of experience with common scripting languages (Python, JavaScript)

Minimum 1 years of experience with front-end development using CSS/SCSS/HTML and JavaScript frameworks (Angular, NodeJS, React) is a plus

Minimum 2 years of experience in leading development teams

Minimum 1 year of experience with AWS and IBM Cloud would be a plus
