Your Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Product Marketing Manager (PMM) is a technologist who strikes a balance between a deep understanding of the inner workings of our products and solutions and the relevance of that understanding to solving various business challenges. The ideal candidate will be expected to be just as comfortable in the lab/datacenter as they would be in front of an audience of decision makers, decision influencers, and decision implementers. As an IBM's Sr. Product Marketing Manager for our Cloud-Native and Software-Defined Kubernetes offering (IBM Spectrum Fusion), you'll build brand awareness and drive product adoption for our container ecosystem. You'll leverage marketing tactics to ensure we promote the IBM Spectrum Fusion offerings to our key audience (horizontal and vertical offerings). You'll implement research insights to marketing assets, such as the website to continually optimize investments that capture mindshare and grow market share. You'll create product positioning, messaging, and narratives while leading go-to-market efforts for launches and updates across the portfolio. You'll create interactive demos, write and produce diverse and inclusive written and video case studies to bring our solutions, products, launches and product releases to life.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Develop and iterate product positioning and messaging that differentiates the Spectrum Fusion portfolio in the market
Be a go-to-market lead for one or more Spectrum Fusion portfolio components, working closely with sales, product management, and engineering to drive product adoption and product revenue, while helping the team quickly react to real-world customer and field feedback
Understand the ecosystem of partners and collaborate with them to drive awareness, campaigns, co-marketing, and other related GTM for the Spectrum Fusion portfolio
Content creation -- use your domain knowledge, technical expertise, and understanding of our target personas to create specific content to help customers learn about, select, and be advocates for the Spectrum Fusion portfolio
Sales enablement - guide the team to communicate the value proposition to the global sales team and in developing the sales tools and training that support the selling process. Work with the team to deliver content related to value propositions, competitive differentiators, and product-focused sales materials
Product launch - plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
Collaborate internally with cross-functional teams including brand research, product, developer relations, and PR to develop clear product and brand narratives and messaging, as well as new program offerings
Market intelligence - be an expert on our buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; understand the market landscape and how to competitively position the product. Serve as the voice of the customer to the internal product-focused teams to reinforce solving customer challenges
Competitive intelligence - be an expert on the competitors and their offerings understanding the strengths and weaknesses for the products/solutions we will encounter in the field. Create internally facing enablement to prepare our field to go on the offensive or defensive where necessary
Demand and lead generation strategy - collaborate with the demand gen team to deliver the marketing programs that drive demand
Be able to flex into multiple marketing tactics, including product marketing, events, growth, and digital
Work externally with creative agency partners to create marketing materials, including interactive experiences and websites, video and written case studies, email newsletters, and other marketing collateral
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
At least 5+ years of software product marketing experience with at least 3 years of experience in a technical or field-facing role related to developers, cloud, infrastructure, IT operations or networking
Technical subject matter expert in cloud native infrastructure, with a strong understanding of the impact of software development, Kubernetes, cloud, and DevOps approaches
Experience with enterprise open-source software offerings and experience bringing them to market
Demonstrable ability to create unique, clear, creative, bold, and compelling technical marketing messages and product messaging that can be easily translated into business value/business outcome messages
Experience in selling, marketing, supporting, or implementing enterprise-level technology solutions - especially in hybrid cloud models and/or big data
Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills are an absolute must, with a proven ability to deliver product and solutions presentations and training that is creative, compelling, through provoking and relevant
Experience conducting in depth assessments of competitive products and solutions, articulate strong and defensible differentiators, and analyze win/loss data to generate recommendations to the business and our field
Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and market needs and translate into effective messaging and content for business and technical audiences.
Self-starter with strong problem solving and cross-functional skills, the ability to think and work strategically, and execute as both a leader and as an individual contributor
Prefer working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity. This role requires you to work across functions and departments to bring to life the product. You are at the center of our entire organization, constantly interacting with teammates and partners
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
An MBA would be a plus, but not required
Be an extremely results-oriented and creative collaborator focused on results and KPIs that align to revenue goals
Be an expert story teller, capable of creating a vision with words that evoke emotion driving an undeniable urge to take action
Provem ability to manage multiple projects, programs and priorities
Ability to communicate effectively to influence/ prompt action of stakeholders
Experienced in core marketing functions
Software development and scripting experience a plus
