IBM Marketing Operations Project Manager in Austin, Texas

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Marketing Project Manager is a key member of Marketing Operations organization. Marketing Operations serves as the backbone across IBM Marketing to guide the organization, generating a stronger linkage between business objectives, marketing plans and business outcomes. This is a critical functional area that lays the groundwork for marketers to excel.

This role partners across the marketing function and works closely with the Director of Marketing for Global Investments and Operations. As a marketing project manager, you will oversee cross-functional marketing project-related initiatives that affect, optimize and provide transparency for the marketing function globally.

This role requires extensive experience in project management, particularly marketing-focused projects.

You will be responsible for defining and managing the value proposition, work plan, resource needs, timeline, and budget for projects. The primary focus is on meeting the project brief requirements and maintaining overall stakeholder satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects, including ownership of project brief, scope of work, resource allocation, facilitating approvals, and managing expectations and timeline

  • Develop, plan, and manage the project timeline to meet the forecasted delivery deadline

  • Validate process and system requirements for a project to meet the needs of the business process it is designed to support

  • Move projects through all major stages of project execution

  • Monitor project performance using project KPI metrics

  • Identify, analyze, and address risks that could affect the success of a project

  • Manage relationships with the individual program owner, including the timely flow of information within the project team, the company and vendors, and to/from the program owner

  • Conduct post project analyses with the project requestor and vendors

  • Manage relationships with vendors from request for quote submittal to purchase order approval for completed work, following established production guidelines

  • Lead the continuous improvement and implementation of production discipline with the project management team

  • Build relationships and integrate processes with other team members, internal requesters, and external vendors to meet changing marketing and business priorities

  • Conduct process audits and develop and maintain departmental process documentation

  • Prioritize, sequence, and manage projects according to resource availability and timelines aligned to business objectives

  • Coordinate the project management budget planning and manage the project allocation process aligned to business objectives

  • Gather and disseminate marketing project management best practices to key stakeholders and train stakeholders on key marketing processes

  • Participate in the development of organizational alignment, competency assessment, and skills development of the project management office team members

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 4 years of experience in project management, preferably in an advertising or marketing environment

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex marketing projects simultaneously

  • Strong technical spreadsheet and calendar management experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and demands

  • Clear, courteous and confident communication skills

  • Extremely detail-oriented tactical planning skills

  • Ability to anticipate and identify issues in a project plan and provide suggestions for overcoming obstacles

  • Excellent collaboration skills with all levels of the organization
