Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated and experienced life sciences analyst and manager to drive commercial growth and organizational synergy across a high growth vertical in Watson Health. This role will report to the VP, Life Sciences within Watson Health and will be a member of the Life Sciences Portfolio team, supporting cross portfolio priorities of enabling cloud-based products, real world data and analytics services to meet the needs of the Biopharmaceutical market. The ideal candidate has experience across commercial strategy, business model innovation, product management, and incubation of new products for the Life Sciences. A proven track record consulting to Life Sciences market is highly valued. The focus of the role will be on emerging products in the clinical research, trial conduct and real-world data spaces. Opportunities exist to engage on portfolio management, business development and commercial growth space.

What will you do:

  • Working in the intersection of life sciences and te

chnology to help IBM Watson Health deliver solutions for associated clients. Exploring real world data, creating models and predictions by leveraging technical data science methodologies. In addition, you will be responsible for extracting and packaging data and analyses for client delivery through a data catalog.

  • Forecasting market dynamics such as supply/demand and pricing sensitivity.

  • Be responsible for partnering with clients to understand their business and technical requirements to translate those needs into application specifications. Applications will be primarily leveraged to manage the execution of clinical trials for new pharmaceutical, wearable, and other medical technology.

  • Identifying new use cases that could enhance the success and tracking of clinical trials across their life cycle. Acting as a liaison between IBM Research, IBM Watson Health, and clients to review marketability and feasibility of new technology in the market. You will leverage a unique understanding of life sciences and management information systems to deliver appropriate and robust solutions for IBM's life sciences clients.

  • Serve as a life sciences industry analyst and member of a dynamic portfolio management team focused on improving the performance of clinical trials and delivering therapeutic insights via real-world data and analytic services

  • Be a part of Watson Health's Life Sciences Offering Management Team, identifying and prioritizing new offerings to bring to market, managing products from conceptualization to validation to minimal viable product to scale and supporting the continuous delivery and improvement of in-market offerings.

  • Provide insight into how life sciences and biotech companies design, discover, develop, and market modern therapeutics across multiple disease areas.

  • Help drive the strategic and operational planning cycle within Watson Health to determine the portfolio trajectory and facilitate resource planning, organizational objectives and KPIs to achieve longer-term strategic goals

  • Engage with industry thought-leaders, partners and customers to continuously evaluate emerging trends and potential paths for offering development

  • Work across Watson Health and IBM as the pan-product lead to inform cross-discipline teams of development, design, marketing, communications, and sales to deliver scalable, Life Sciences offerings centered at the nexus of big data, analytics and cloud-enabled delivery

You are:

  • A highly skilled commercial strategist and consultant in life sciences with both depth and breadth across the business of pharma and clinical research and real-world data

  • Passionate about transforming healthcare and life sciences

  • Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities

  • An exceptional verbal and written communicator with a proven track record of building consensus within large organizations and disparate groups of stakeholders

  • Exceptionally organized and comfortable working with offering/product, engineering, and design teams

  • Proven analytical thinker with an understanding of how to synthesize information from a variety of sources and crystallize disparate data into a cogent recommendations and/or solutions

  • Committed to supporting a culture of growth, diversity and inclusion

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience and/or Life Sciences consulting industry experience in drug discovery

  • 5+ years exploring real world data, creating models and predictions by leveraging technical data science methodologies, and extracting and packaging data and analyses.

  • Experience with collaborating and leading in a matrixed environment

  • Familiarity with financial analysis, operating statements and forecasting

  • Excellent skills in project management, portfolio management, planning, and/or resource planning

  • Working knowledge of the clinical trials process from drug development to commercialization

  • Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver a high-caliber of work and attention to detail/direction

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skillset

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years of industrial pharmaceutical industry experience or consulting industry experience in drug discovery

  • M.S., MBA or PhD

  • Experience in strategy, marketing, or software development.

  • Understanding of real-world evidence (RWE) data and its application

  • Strong external presence and network through participation in conferences and professional societies and advisory boards
