Your Role and Responsibilities
At IBM Cloud, we are working on the next generation of cloud computing services built with global scale, security and compliance in mind. Today, IBM Cloud spans the globe and delivers continuous service to customers from 39 data centers and growing. The IBM Cloud Networking team is looking for a talented, innovative and enthusiastic Software Engineering professional to help build the next generation of Edge Security and reliability services for IBM Cloud. The IBM Cloud Networking team has a global datacenter presence across 19 countries and 6 continents that enable Watson, Blockchain and IOT solutions. The Network Services team is responsible for delivering network services with top-notch performance, first-rate security, fail-safe reliability and exceptional quality.
An IBM Cloud Networking Software Development engineer will be the key individual responsible for end-to-end feature enablement across the orchestration and the data layer. You will perform hands-on low-level design, coding, unit tests, and CI/CD and automation integration. You will interface with senior architects on key aspects of the service being developed and work with them on the overall strategy and plan.
We are a global team, so communication skills (both verbal and written) are critical as well as flexibility to work with team members in other time zones.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
3 years Programming skills (Python, Go Lang, C, Bash scripting)
3 years Source Control (like Git, Bitbucket, Svn)
2 years Infrastructure automation (like Travis, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
Knowledge of cloud network technologies like DNS and CDN and/or Web Application Firewalls
Working knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful Web Services.
1 year Asynchronous and event-driven programming.
1 year Container Concepts (LXD, Docker)
1 year Orchestration (Kubernetes, Mesos, Swarm, Rancher)
Knowledge of Linux OS and network internals.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
3 years building services on Cloud using microservices.
2 years Linux OS & Network internals
2 years experience with Linux debugging.
2 years experience with Jenkins, Travis, and other CI/CD tools
2 years experience with GoLang or Python.
Ability to research on new technologies as needed
Communication skills (both verbal and written) are critical
Collaboration skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
