IBM AIX Administrator in Austin, Texas

Your Role and Responsibilities

The AIX Administrator will be part of a team, providing implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our client AIX environments. The administrator will be responsible for working with members of our Technical Delivery Teams and Architecture teams to support and improve the delivery of managed services. Must deploy servers, support day to day system performance, prevent data loss, and unauthorized access.

For a better deliverable among multiple teams Agile practices are used to assign, control and measure your activities due to a self-directed team. Soft skill, time management, upskilling and teamwork are fundamental for your work deliverables and career path.

  • Use your leadership skills to manage internal projects with multiple teams. Team members will be in a located across the globe.

  • Lead and participate in projects demonstrating experience in Infrastructure environment

  • Your expertise consists in technical discussion with Infrastructure Architect, Security and Project teams

  • This role requires the candidate be eligible to be ITAR certified. ITAR certification requires US Citizenship.

The Team

This group supports a 24x7 operations team. The position will require integration with existing teams for implementation, day to day technical support and you will receive business direction from a remote manager.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of IT experience in enterprise environment covering systems administration in AIX infrastructure

  • 5+ years of experience building and supporting operational system such as AIX/Linux, HMC systems

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

  • Demonstrated strength in troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Storage SAN Disk - Fundamental skills to understand initial Storage troubleshooting Cloud concept - Initial concept to work in a cloud environmentSKLM (encryption) - Encryption expertise to manage libraries functionalitiesVTL (Virtual Tape Library) - Manage VTL environment for backup infrastructure

  • Security & Compliance - Skills to deal with audit requirement, providing artifacts from AIX environment, including all patching management process to keep the servers secure.

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Server (Former TSM) - Backup knowledge for managing our main core application.
