Your Role and Responsibilities
The candidate will assist with forecasting and modeling relevant provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and be responsible for portions of the International compliance process.
The candidate will be responsible for quantifying the US tax impacts of TCJA on a quarterly basis.
The candidate will also be responsible for preparing and completing the international portions of the IBM US consolidated federal return including, but not limited to, Forms 5471 & 8858, Subpart F income, Earnings & Profits, Foreign Tax Credit, Global Intangible Low Taxed (GILTI) Tested Income, Foreign Personal Holding Company Income, Base Company Sales Income and Base Company Services Income for both forecasting and tax return reporting purposes.
As part of preparing the above forms and calculations, the candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
Provide input to Global Tax related to the determination of GILTI Tested Income and tax for all applicable entities.
Assist with quarterly income tax modeling and planning, including GILTI and FTC calculations.
Work with local country Accounting and Tax as the primary interface for all income tax compliance issues related to the US Federal Income Tax Return for all applicable entities.
Accurately analyzing and timely tracing and follow-up on all tax reports that local country tax and accounting are required to complete.
Determine whether there have been any changes to a prior year local income tax liability of an assigned legal entity as a result of an audit, filing of a final income tax return or for any other reason and work with CHQ Tax to properly account for such change.
Prepare accurate and complete foreign entity US tax returns (Forms 5471 and 8858), including all new schedules under recent US tax reform.
Maintain copies of all tax returns and receipts supporting the amount of income taxes being claimed for each legal entity.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least 6 years' experience in Federal and International Compliance
At least 4 years' experience in international tax forecasting and provision
Ability to calculate and model tax reform impacts under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).
Working knowledge of accounting rules, Internal Revenue Code provisions and tax research tools
Strong Excel skills
At least 6 years' experience in Domestic/international tax, accounting rules, IRC provisions, tax research
