IBM Scrum Master - Level II in Alexandria, Virginia

Your Role and Responsibilities

Scrum Masters are servant leaders and coaches for an Agile Team. They help educate their team(s) in Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe, ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed. They also help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement Scrum Masters on Risk MAP CDS will need a strong understanding of Portfolio level and Large Solution level SAFe.

Scrum Masters will demonstrate the following:

  1. Exhibits Lean-Agile leadership and Mindset. Helps the team embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe Principles, implement SAFe practices.

  2. Facilitates the team's progress toward team sprint goals and PI Objectives.

  3. Leads team efforts in relentless improvement - Helps the team improve and take responsibility for their actions; facilitates the team retrospective. Teaches problem-solving techniques and helps the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.

  4. Facilitates team events including the Daily Stand-up, sprint Planning, sprint Review, and sprint Retrospective and ensures they are productive and kept within the timebox.

  5. Supports the Product Owner or PO Proxy to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.

  6. Facilitates the removal of impediments and dependencies.

  7. Promotes SAFe quality practices.

  8. Builds a high-performing team by continuously improving team dynamics and performance, working to resolve interpersonal conflicts and challenges, and identifying opportunities for growth.

  9. Escalates people problems to management where necessary, but only after internal team processes have failed to resolve the issue; helps individuals.

  10. Coordinates inter-team cooperation and helps the team operate well on the Agile Release Train.

  11. Coordinates with other teams.

  12. Supports SAFe adoption coaching stakeholders and other non-agile teams on effective interactions with agile teams, participating in the Scrum Master Community of Practice, and supporting the organization's RTEs, STEs, and Agile Coaches.

  13. Enables organizational effectiveness by working with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to help the team contribute towards improving the overall development Value Stream.

  14. Facilitates preparation and readiness for ART events including PI Planning, System Demos, and the Inspect and Adapt workshop.

  15. Supports estimating by guiding the team in establishing normalized estimates and helps the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 2+ yrs experience with agile methodologies

  • 2+ yrs use case writing, requirement analysis, data analysis and test case writing

  • 2+ yrs requirements and business process experience

  • 2 + yrs creating and updating business process and information flow documentation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Must be able to work independently with little guidance and supervision

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with Rational Team Concert (RTC)

  • Experience with Rational Requirements Manager (RRM)

  • Experience with Rational Quality Manager (RQM)

  • Experience with Atlassian ALM tools Familiarity with standard software structured testing processes

  • Experience with Design Thinking methodology

  • Experience with Agile Development

  • Experience with Relational Databases
